My Baseball Career
My baseball journey started like any other kid, grew up playing with friends and family in the backyard then joined a little team as soon as I could. My father had always told me I could throw harder and farther than all of the kids in my grade and even a few grades above me. I loved baseball in high school and was very good at it, with many no-hitters and even 2 perfect games at the varsity level. However, coming from a school of around 250 kids total I didn't get any attention or offers from any college teams.
I knew I wanted to play baseball in college so I decided to walk on to Madison Area Technical College (MATC) and give it a try. That very next semester after walking onto the team I was offered a scholarship and a starting pitcher position. My first year at MATC was great and I really impressed some scouts and my coaches. The next year I unfortunately fell on bad luck and tore my UCL in the very first game of the season forcing me to take a medical redshirt that year. This was a huge setback for me but I was consistent in my recovery and training and managed to come back next year stronger and with better mechanics. Unfortunately again and pretty coincidentally I happened to be pitching the first game of the year, which was on the exact same date as my torn UCL the year before, and covered first on a ground ball and tore my knee apart while taking another medical redshirt year. two out of the three years at my JUCO I spent completely hurt and figured I could kiss my chances of ever playing again goodbye.
However, my JUCO coach called around to some schools for me to plead my case and explain the circumstances and tough times I had gone through. Luckily enough one school out of the vast amount of schools my coach called for me decided to have me on a visit. The Division 1 school of Bradley University decided to take a huge chance on me and take me with a partial athletic and a full academic scholarship. My dreams had come true of playing D1 baseball but it was far from over and the real work was just beginning. Long story short I spent 3 years at Bradley with one year being taken away by Covid.
In the end though we had proven enough of myself through Bradley's program and through summer baseball in the Northwoods League to show MLB scouts that I had what it took to play professional baseball.
In 2021 I was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the seventh round. I spent 21'-22' with them eventually making it up to AA. In the 23' season I was traded to the Red Sox where I started in AA and made my way to AAA.
